Annual meeting of the European Society for Astronomy in Culture 2026

The Annual SEAC Meeting 2026 will be held at the University of Thessaly, Volos, Greece, from 4 to 8 September 2026. Scientists active in archaeoastronomy, ethnoastronomy, cultural astronomy, history of astronomy, and related fields are invited to participate with either 15-minute oral presentations or posters. We especially welcome papers that fit this year’s theme “Star lore in the land of the Centaurs”.

The European Society for Astronomy in Culture (SEAC) is a professional association of scientists whose aim is to promote the interdisciplinary study of astronomical practice in its cultural context, as a topic of considerable importance within the broader study of human societies and their relationship to the environment.

The University of Thessaly was founded in 1984. It currently hosts approximately 45000 students and comprises campuses in five cities, offering 35 undergraduate and over 90 postgraduate programmes. The conference will be held at the Department of Economics, in Volos.
